On this page members of the public will find advice on to what to do when coming across a stained or damaged banknote.

Remember, by refusing to accept notes that have been damaged as a result of staining or handing them into your Bank, Building Society or Post Office you will be playing your part in fighting crime. Guidance is also available for businesses and Police.
